August is prime time for the Great Wildebeest Migration — over 1.5 million animals crossing the Mara River, considered the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth.
The optional Gorilla Trek extension runs August 20–24. Following an overnight in Kenya, you will fly to Rwanda and stay 3 nights at the One&Only Gorillas Nest, a five-star lodge on the edge of Volcanoes National Park. The centrepiece is a guided mountain gorilla trek — an intimate encounter with one of the world's most endangered species. Gorilla trekking permits are strictly limited so please express your interest as early as possible.
The Gorilla Trek is a wonderful experience for families and couples alike. Children must be 15 or older to participate in the gorilla trek itself, though the One&Only Gorillas Nest offers exceptional activities for all ages. Please enquire for family-specific arrangements.
Neutral-coloured clothing is recommended for game drives. Evenings can be cooler — light layers are advised. A full packing guide will be provided upon registration.
